A body reconstructed by its own archive.
For nearly 50 years I've chased whatever medium was newest and most unstable — early video, photography, film, animation — then spent years running the machinery that reconstructs other people's images in post-production, before returning to my own work through installation and conceptual art.
The Haunted Archive Machine is what happens when that history meets generative AI. The figures it produces are not recordings. They're reconstructions — assembled from memory, old footage, datasets, and machine interpretation, the way an AI model assembles an image it has never actually seen. The archive doesn't preserve a fixed self. It keeps synthesizing one, over and over, out of everything I've left behind.
